Nick Cave returns to Berlin
The South Bank show: Michael Winterbottom

THE SOUTH BANK SHOW: GRIME, BOW AND HOW UK HIP-HOP FOUND ITS VOICE (1 x 60’ for Sky Arts)

In the early 2000’s, a new sound started appearing on the underground clubs and pirate radio stations of East London. High tempo, angular and overscored by lightening quick MC’s it was fresh, abrasive and uniquely British. It was later to be known as Grime – and its key artists such as Dizzy Rascal, Tinchy Stryder and Wylie would go on to top the charts More astonishingly it evolved through MC’s and producers from one small area of London: Bow.

NOMINATEED FOR BEST ARTS PROGRAMME, RTS AWARDS 2013.
