YOUSSOU N’DOUR AND CARLOU D (30’ for the Turner Network), March 2003)

For over 30 years, Youssou N’Dour has been a superstar of African music. Now he’s eager to bring on the next generation of talented, African musicians. Shot in the streets of Dakar, Senegal, and intercut with a specially shot concert in London, this film contrasts the world of one cultural icon whose empire extends beyond music into media and now politics with Carlou D, a man who has risen from abject poverty to become one of West Africa’s most exciting new talents.
