Autopsy: The Last Hours of Barry White (1 x 60’ for Reelz/Channel 5, 2017)
Barry White was the multi-million selling, gravel-voiced Walrus of Love. Born into poverty, as a boy he briefly took a wrong turn joining a gang and stealing cars. But music saved him and by his late 20’s he had become one of US R&B’s most in-demand producers. Then he took over on the mic and the rest, as they say, is musical history. But this mountain of a man died at the young age of 58 seemingly with many creative years ahead of him. Using first-hand testimony and dramatic reconstruction, this film follows forensic pathologist, Dr Michael Hunter, as he investigates Barry White’s medical history – and biography – to get to the bottom of what caused his untimely death.
